Brexit

Erasmus+ funds are still available to support Go Abroad for Staff activities post-Brexit.

Erasmus+ funding

Funding for Go Abroad Staff programmes is currently provided within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, with the support of the European Commission.

The UK government’s decision not to participate in the new Erasmus+ programme does not affect the UK’s participation in the current Erasmus+ programme (2014 – 2020).

The University of Edinburgh has been granted an extension to its 2020 project which will enable us to support Go Abroad Staff activities until the end of the 2022/2023 academic year.

This means that all current and planned Go Abroad Staff activities will still be eligible for Erasmus+ funding in the usual way.

Funding for Go Abroad for Staff activities in 2021/22 and 2022/23 will be issued on a first-come first-served basis.  Staff who plan to seek funding for future activities are advised to apply for funds as early as possible, even if dates and teaching/training plans are still provisional.

Turing Scheme

Following the UK's departure from the European Union, the UK government has launched the Turing Scheme, as a replacement for Erasmus+ in the UK.

Turing does not currently include funding to support staff mobility activities, though UK universities are currently lobbying for this to be reviewed.  We therefore encourage staff to apply for funds for Go Abroad Staff activities during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years while Erasmus+ funds are still available.
